Allentown Art Museum Features Work of Panther Valley Students
The Allentown Art Museum, as part of an Arts In Education Partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, funded Jim Thorpe artist Victor Stabin to conduct a series of workshops for the Panther Valley School District in 2011. He returned in 2012 for an expanded program co-funded by the Panther Valley School District. Those engagements resulted in an exhibition at the Allentown Art Museum. in conjunction with the exhibit, “Victor Stabin-Daedal Doodle: An Extraordinary Journey through the Alphabet.” – Al Zagofsky
Artist Encourages Students to Fly Closer to the Sun
Seventy Panther Valley students completed a 10-session workshop where elementary, middle and senior high school students teamed collaboratively under the guidance of a nationally-recognized artist-in-residence to create, design and publish a graphic alphabet book. For the second year, Allentown Art Museum Arts and Education Manager Kathy Odorizzi has sponsored, Panther Valley High School art teacher Kimberlee Burkett has organized, and nationally-recognized illustrator and painter, Victor Stabin of Jim Thorpe has served as artist-in-residence in the Daedal Doodle project. – Al Zagofsky
Art is Education Opens Saturday
Art Is Education, an exhibition featuring 26 students’ artistic interpretations of words beginning with an alphabetic letter opens Saturday, November 12 and runs through Sunday, December 18 at the Victor Stabin Gallery, 268 West Broadway in Jim Thorpe. The exhibition kicks off with an opening reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. – Al Zagofsky

Victor Stabin to Conduct Residency Program for Key Artists
Victor Stabin, of Jim Thorpe, an eco-surrealist painter and illustrator, spoke to the student body at Panther Valley High School recently. Stabin gave students insight into his work as he showed slides of his paintings. In addition to painting, Stabin also authored a book of the Alphabet dictionary called “Daedal Doodle” with his own definitions. – Carol Zickler
